Panopera's production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro delighted a well-populated house at the Academy of Music Theatre Friday evening.
The artist-led company marked its fourth season with Figaro and remained true to its stated mission to combine local artistic entities in the service of high-quality operatic production by inviting Pioneer Valley Ballet into the endeavor.

NORTHAMPTON -- Panopera opened a very impressive production of Stephen Sondheim's macabre masterpiece, Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Friday evening at the Academy of Music Theatre.
Forty years old this year, Todd packs as powerful a punch as ever, reminding an aghast audience that man's inhumanity to man knows no bounds and that the words "revenge" and "redemption" are only a few letters removed from one another.

NORTHAMPTON - It's a shame Georges Bizet died without knowing that his opera "Carmen" would become one of the most beloved, often-performed works in the genre. Panopera's production of Bizet's masterpiece reminded an appreciative audience at the Academy of Music Theatre in Northampton on Friday why "Carmen" remains so wildly popular nearly a century and a half after its premiere.
